Rhys Johns is a highly respected practitioner specialising in high-value and complex litigation across Chancery (including insolvency, contentious probate, and all aspects of property), Commercial, Property, and Employment/Regulatory law. He is also experienced in professional negligence claims, including those involving clinicians.
Rhys maintains strong links with Wales and the West, and is well-versed in the areas where Welsh property law diverges from English law. He advises companies on internal and external disputes involving owners, partners, and employees—both before and after conflicts arise. He believes in the importance of early, proactive, and considered advice to contain and resolve disputes, and is frequently retained by companies in an advisory capacity.
Rhys has appeared before the SCCO in costs matters and he is a member of the Chancery Bar Association and the Employment Law Bar Association.

Commercial
Rhys has a complementary commercial and company law practice and regularly advises business clients—often on a direct access basis—on partnership disputes, company formation, and business premises leases. He has extensive experience in consumer contract disputes, including high-value credit hire claims, and keeps fully abreast of developments in this rapidly evolving area of law.
He is frequently instructed in corporate insolvency and director disqualification proceedings. His practice also includes serious professional negligence claims involving lawyers and other professionals, in both regulatory proceedings and high-value damages claims. Current instructions include:
- a major shareholder dispute valued in excess of £10 million; and
- commercial litigation involving pallet delivery networks, including allegations of fraud and substantial financial loss.
He also advises commercial clients on the drafting and negotiation of specialist industry contracts.
Injunctions
Rhys regularly appears in the High Court on injunction applications—often on an urgent or emergency basis—and is willing to consider instructions at short notice. He is acutely aware of the commercial urgency and strategic importance of such applications. He accepts suitable instructions on a direct access basis and is always willing to discuss potential claims with prospective clients.
